Empuriabrava is the mouth of the port of Empuriabrava, the largest residential marina in Europe. 20 minutes from Empuriabrava is the tourist village of Sant Pere Pescador, which is part of the protected area of the Aiguamolls de L’Empordà. It is characterised by its more than 6 km of fine sandy beaches, perfect for lovers of water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing due to the constancy of the wind. Every year the World Windsurfing Championships are held on its beaches, and it has become one of the world destinations for this sport. Another of its characteristics that make it a tourist town is that it offers the possibility of hiking, horse riding or long bike rides. Further on are the ruins of Empúries, one of the most important archaeological sites in Spain. Then there is l’Escala, a village on the Mediterranean coast where there is a marina and where you can discover several coves such as Cala Montgó. And finally we reach the last destination before reaching the Medes Islands, L’Estartit.
